Join Matthew Masini and some of Oregon ALA's seasoned law firm administrators for an insightful roundtable discussion: "No Dumb Questions: Things I Wish Somebody Would Have Explained to Me When I First Started in the Legal Field."  Some of the topics to be discussed include:

 - Attorneys do not always make good bosses and follow proper HR rules – what do you do?

 - Everyone who works in legal thinks they know HR laws – how to have conversations with them

 - How to hire a paralegal if you don’t know what paralegals do

 - What financial reports are actually important to the managing partner/s

 - How to tell if an attorney is doing a good job

 - How to mentor a brand new associate so they are functional

Most importantly, if you have questions, bring them!  This is your opportunity to ask questions that have come up while navigating your new role as a law firm administrator.  Just remember, there is no such thing as a dumb question!


Matthew has been in the legal profession since 2002.  He started his career at the Metropolitan Public Defender as a legal assistant prior to becoming the Chief of Administrative Services.  Matthew is currently the Executive Director at Rizzo Mattingly Bosworth.  Matthew holds a Masters in Business Administration from Portland State University.  He served as President of the Oregon Chapter of the ALA from 2017-2018.
